Product Description:

An extension cable especially for use with your USB 2.0 devices. USB 2.0 delivers 480Mbps data transfer speeds and capability, but also maintains a backward compatibility with USB 1.1 devices.

USB 2.0 High Speed Supports data transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps. General Type :USB 2.0 extension cable. Connections : A plug (flat) to A Socket (Flat) USB v2.0 is a high speed connection method which is 40 times faster than USB v1.1 (480Mbps as opposed to 12Mbps).

It is plug & play and hot swappable (no need to turn off your PC to plug a device in or out). It is faster than Firewire (IEEE1394/iLink) but not as qiuck as IEEE1394b (800Mbps). USB v2.0 cables will still work with USB v1.1 computers (they are backwardly compatible) and peripherals, but only if both Computer and Peripheral are USB v2.0 will they work at High Speed (480Mbps). USB v2.0 peripherals will not work at High Speed (480Mbps) unless they are connected with a USB v2.0 cable and connected to a computer equiped with USB v2.0 ports.

Not gooseneck cables, but serviceable. The build quality of these short extensions is decent, and none of the five I received appear to be defective after light testing. The cables measure about 15cm between the connectors, *if* you include the strain relief, plus another 5cm or so for the USB connectors, so they can reliably cover a 7in/18cm span. However, the item description calls these extensions “Adjustable Flexible” and states that these “Can be used as stand to hold your LED,Flash Disk/Pen Drive ,Card Reader in any angles you want”. That is the sort of description one would expect for a gooseneck cable, such as the kinds typically found on USB LED lights, that hold a rigid position after you bend them.So I was hoping — but certainly not expecting — that they would be gooseneck cables, but they aren’t. They’re just regular ol’ 24AWG 4-conductor cables, with USB 2.0 termination. Their description is *technically* accurate, I suppose, but it’s a stretch, especially the idea of…

BKR says:

OK quality but weird physical design may not work for all USB devices. The quality of these short extensions is good, but they have a weird hood over the female USB end that will make many USB accessories not work with them. (See photo.) The actual female USB jack is inset by about 4mm. I had to cut half the hood off of them in order to get them to work with some USB audio adapter I needed to plug into them. So just make sure whatever USB thing you’re going to plug in isn’t wide on the male side, which is quite common for non-cable USB devices.

Lee C says:

Works as expected but one thing Works as expected. The female connector is recessed in a plastic housing and some USB devices can’t plug in deep enough to make connection. For one device, I had to trim off that plastic housing some.
